REMOVING BARRIERS TO THE ARTS

Blowin' a Hooley is an award-winning North East theatre company.
Sharing relatable and authentic stories
Taking theatre with regional identity to non-arts communities
Removing barriers to careers in the arts

We believe theatre is for everyone and should be accessible to all.
Blowin' A Hooley Theatre was founded to tell authentic North East stories to non-theatre audiences. We believe that theatre is for everyone and are passionate about taking theatre to audiences that wouldn't otherwise access the arts. We aim to bridge the gap between theatre and the dis-engaged.

Since her return to the UK she has been working in film, TV and theatre.
Recent credits include Ken Loach features Sorry We Missed You and I, Daniel Blake (Sixteen Films), Hacker (Audible), Switch (Funky Chevron Productions), Tone Death (Bay Video), Dragon (The Exchange) and Spoonful of Honey (Edinburgh Fringe). Blowin' A Hooley credits include Tom Hadaway's The Filleting Machine and original plays WANT, Extraordinary Women, Cedarwood's Cinderella and Harry and Kiera's Worst Day.

"My favourite part of Hooley-ing is being able to do what I love and offer opportunities to others, from giving an actor their first paid role to performing for a first-time audience member. That and being fuelled by tea and biscuits."

Micky had no aspirations to be an actor until he was kicked out of an art lesson and made to sit in on a drama class; a punishment that re-directed a troubled youth to pursue a career in the arts.
Recently Micky has been working in film, TV and theatre. Recent credits include Dragon (The Exchange), Ken Loach’s Sorry We Missed You and I, Daniel Blake (Sixteen Films), Switch (Funky Chevron Productions), Akita (Big River Films), Shark (Tri-Hard Films). Blowin' A Hooley credits include Tom Hadaway's The Filleting Machine and original plays WANT, Cedarwood's Cinderella and Harry and Kiera's Worst Day.

"The best part about Hooley is that no one is ever pigeon holed with a set of specific skills. There are many roles to share and endless skills to implement."
